Connecting a DVD

I've entered the 21st century and bought a DVD player. Problem: My TV, Video and Sky box have 2 scart sockets each, all of which are in use as each is connected to the other. I think you can get scart 'splitters'. If so, would I be best to get one of these to connect the DVD (which port do I double up with on the tv; video or sky?) or would I be better to get a S-Video cable, as there is a socket on both TV and DVD player. It is a fairly cheap DVD, no surround sound theatre experience and all that gubbins, so mega quality is not an issue.

Go for the S-Video cable.  It's much easier for you and I have read that it's a better quality signal than SCART anyway.

a few suggestions you could try:

-Don't try and connect the dvd through the video, as the macrovision copy protection will create picture distortion. (This does not apply if your  dvd player has been hacked!).

-Use an s-video cable and 2 phonos for audio, between DVD and the tv. Select the right output signal in the dvd setup menu!

-If you have problems with this, you could use TV scart 1 for the dvd and scart 2 for the video.

Connect sky to vcr scart 2 AV input and watch it that way, through the video, with the added bonus of getting good quality recordings should you need to tape off sky when watching something off normal TV.
