Closing PayPal accounts

I have had a PayPal account for a number of years, and have two email identities to manage my account.
Like most of us, I have changed email address and ISPs a few times, and I no longer have the email address I used for one of the identities.
Does anyone know how I can close the non-existing account now that I no longer have access to the email address?
The problem being that I want to use a particular credit card for my valid email address, but I can't use the same card on both identities, and PayPal say they cannot close the account for me, only I can do that - but I don't have a valid email address . . . . . . . etc!!!!
TIA

From experience, it will be far easier if you get the card company to issue you with a card bearing a different nimber aqnd then use that.

I assume you don't have any money in the Paypal account you can't use.
