I have some close-up portrait photos of some friends that need to be enhanced, ie to remove the odd face-blemish and even-out the colour to make them look professional and 'perfect skin' for my companies website. What is the best way of doing this?

I usually find that a combination of using the "clone" and "blur" tools along with the odd bit of actual "airbrushing" in my photo-editing software works well: zoom up close to the blemish, and take care with the "brush" size.
Copy an area close to the blemish (use a mask and a new layer) fade the edges and place it over the blemish.
