can anyone tell me why we cann't get this symble up on other computer please the (@) i know you press the arrow key with the key with the @on but we only get the '' dots thanks for anyhelp
It's because your locale settings in your operating system (XP, Vista etc) don't match your keyboard (e.g. your locale is set to USA but you have a British keyboard).
Easy to fix - if you provide more information - e.g. is it a Mac or a Windows PC, is it XP/Vista etc., which country are you in, what country is the keyboard for, people will be able to provide detailed instructions to fix the problem.
thank you sqad &vagrant for the answers ,vagrant asked what system we are using ,it is windows xp we are in the midlands uk and the key board was bought localey hope this info will help
Click on Start, Control Panel, then Date, Time, Language and Regional Options then click on Regional and Language Options and under the Regional Options tab, select English (United Kingdom) from the drop down list where it almost certainly says English (US) now. Finally click on the Apply button, and close it all.
You mention using the "arrow key" with the @ button, it is not the arrow key pressed with the @ button that produces this symbol, it is the shift key (which does have a big arrow on it, but should not be confused with the up arrow key)
