I think so. It was an act of drunken stupidity and thoughtlessness. Now he has 240 hours to realise how stupid he was.
if it was an electric fence he would of got the "short sharp shock" sentence
We had a piece of cr@p near us who stole a poppy tin from a shop. Luckily he was named and shamed on TV.
NO, he should have either been made to pay a huge fine or gone to prison absolutely disrespectful and disgusting
NO.......his doodle should be sewn up
Yes it is a suitable punisment,he will have to do unpaid work in the community instead of spending a couple of weeks/months behind bars at the tax payers expense.
Yes it was disrespectful and disgusting but people get away with being like that all the time.

I was thinking if he had to spend those hours as a cleaner in a ward for wounded service people, or work at a military cemetery, he might come to see the reason for the outrage he'd caused
he should have been made to clean the memorial where he pished....with a toothbrush !
I think the young man is fully aware of the upset and outrage he caused Sandy.

community service often means working in a charity shop etc......too easy for this felon!
If it wasn't for the fact that I find the idea of sending our criminals to the armed forces abhorrent (on the basis that if I went into war I would want a committed soldier next to me watching my back, not some scumbag), I'd suggest sending him to Helmand Province for a week. Just THEN he might be able to understand.

we do that for fun on Saturday nights Billy
Or scrubbing graffiti and picking up litter...
240 hours is plenty of time to realise he was a stupid moron for doing it in the first place, so better than a £50 fine for instance, so yes!
Charity shops are often frequented by pensioners who will know who this lad is and will not be backwards in telling him what they think of his behaviour,I don't think that would necessarily be an 'easy option'.
To be fair Tambo, community service rarely means work in a charity shop. Those sort of positions are only aimed at those who can't do weeding/clearing/litter picking/painting because of health issues.
