Quick sky muliti-room help please.

Just about to have multi room fitted in the kids bedroom. I was told i have to connect the digi box to a phone socket. Is this a contractual requirement as my sky box (not HD) downstairs isn't connected to the phone. Does it just mean we won't have access to the interactive stuff and box office etc ???
Also, does anyone know roughly how much sky would charge for a basic installation. The dish is easy to access and is right next to the room concerned so it's only a short cable run. I would need the bit for the end of the dish that takes two cables so a rough fit and parts price would be good.

if you do not have the phone line connected then the box office rentals will not work neither will any interactive stuff, also depending on the terms of your contract you may be in breach of contract and they can disconnect the service(don't think it's ever actually been done though)
Sky will probably charge you 2-300 quid to do the job.
The LNB costs about 25, the cable and connectors next to nothing, sky are a rip off (I friend recently got quoted £350 to install just the LNB and cables for another sky box,I said I would do it for them, it cost them about £55 in parts and me about 1/2 hour up a ladder to do it for them, I which I could charge £600 an hour labour!)

All installations of a single Sky digibox (be it Sky Digital, Sky+ or Sky+HD) must be connected to a fixed telephone line for the first 12 months of the contract. After this 12 months you are free to disconnect the apparatus (and lose all the benefits of the telephone connection).
Sky Multiroom requires that all the Sky digiboxes be connected to the same fixed line at all times for the lifetime of the contract. This is to ensure that none of the digiboxes is removed from the subscriber's address in an attempt to gain Sky services at another address at the reduced Mutiroom subscription rate of £10 p.m.

have they changed the T&C's for sky+ lately then?
The sky+ terms always used to require the box to be connected to the phone line for the full term of the contract, with no get out of that clause after one year.
the normal sky you can disconnect after a year (or pay a fee so it doesn't have to be connected from day one (£20 if I recall))

No, the T&Cs have not changed. It was never a requirement for Sky+ boxes to remain connected after 12 months.
The only platform that requires fulltime connection is Multiroom.

I appreciate that the above link will only show the most recent of the general conditions for Sky services therefore I have dug out my copy of the Sky+ Conditions dated April 2005...
"SECTION C - GENERAL SKY+ CONDITIONS
C1. Telephone Line Connection
(a) You must keep your telephone line (which must be fixed and operational) connected to your Sky+ Set Top Box for at least 12 months from installation (if installed by Sky) and at all times during your Minimum Period."
(Definition of Minimum Period: the first 12 calendar months from the date on which your Sky+ Set Top Box is enabled by us to provide the Sky+ service.)
The Section continues in respect of multiple STBs...
