What is the difference between 1080i and 1080p Hd ratings and are they both true HD?

1080p is the full HD and gives the smoothest picture.

1080i is "interlaced" where only alternate lines are refreshed.

1080p is "progressive" where every line is refreshed.

1080p is "better" but not sure you would notice much differance (not saying you wont, I just dont know)

Thankyou all for replies, I have 1080i at present but was told that i should have gone for 1080p which is quite good enough so will stick with what I have. Thanks again.
