Which one would you buy

New year and I need a new computer. Going to get one from dell. But really need your help.
Which one would you buy,
The one on this page for £449

I know nothing about computers so really appreciate your help

For the extra £30 I'd go for the £449 one.

It's got a much better graphics card and twice the size of hard drive which is easily worth £30 (the very slightly slower CPU will not make a lot of difference in real world usage)

Mesh computers have an excellent reputation,they have made many award winning systems. I would buy a Mesh over a Dell any day...not that Dell are rubbish, just that in my opinion Mesh are better.

Just for a balance of opinion. I had loads of problems with Mesh Customer Services.
It went right up to an appointment with a small claims court before I got refunded.
They supplied the wrong specification CPU.
Dell have always been OK even outside the warranty period they have helped.

To decide what spec your PC needs one needs to know what you intend doing with it. If all you want to do is write a few letters and surf the Internet then a lower spec/cheaper PC is a good choice. If you want to play the latest video intensive games then a higher spec PC might be needed. Flick through a few of the PC magazines to get a feel for what you might want.

I haven't ever owned a Dell so can only go by reputation, but the impression I get is that they are a good make, perhaps receiving more kudos from their supporters than really appropriate, given there are other brands out there seemingly just as good. Surprised though to hear praise for their CS since any critisism I've heard of Dell have been to do with their support.

One other option you might consider is puttng a bid in at the tat bazaar. I've done that a couple of times and got a decent spec machine for a very reasonable price. But you do need to check if it comes with an O/S. It's not uncommon for the PC hardware to be sold on its own, ready for you to purchase and install the O/S of your choice.

Why would you want to take it to bed, on holiday, to a coffee shop ? You don't take your TV there.

No, what you really want is a, higher spec for the cost, 'solid job', that can be expanded and upgraded, and comes with a proper mouse and keyboard, not to mention screen. :-)
