obviously id prefer the newest version but any will do as long as it works

It's perfectly possible to download software for free

It's firstly illegal, and secondly (as you have mentioned yourself about utorrent) very risky. and keep in mind even if it doesn't look like it's "messed your machine up" by installing pirated software you may be sending every personal bit of information on your computer to a hacker!

And as photoshop is expensive, and well known it's a common carrier of nasty stuff!

Try this - I used to use Photoshop - but wasn't prepared to pay out for a new one when we got this new computer. I find it as good if not better than photoshop...........and it's free.

I found it easier to use than Photoshop - but I don't use it a lot. I am pleased with what I use it for. I'm no expert but it does everything I wanted from Photoshop so don't see the point in paying for it. Jools ;-))

I did think this was a joke at first. Though there is another guy on another thread asking if 3d sunglasses will work with a pirated copy of Avatar.

PS isn't free, we know this (although it is preferred by many including me). You could always try ebay. Someone may have an early version of it going cheap.

Another alternative are the (mostly) free online photo software packages. For example:

Although not quite up to PS, they offer an alternative to it and laymans ones like GIMP. Just this evening I used an online one as part of a media ad campaign for a company I do stuff for. Sometimes, you don't always need PS to get the right result.
