I don't know the techno-terminology so: if I wanted to write a script dialogue between, say, Paul and Jane and wanted the dialogue to be vertically in line, how would I do this so as to stop the dialogue from wrapping round to the margin, where just the names of Paul and Jane were?...I hope that's clear and I'm using Word 2007. Ta Muchly.

Oh I'm cringing!!!
I have my name on all postings! Please someone knock me off there! :0(
I tipe quite and sometimes get the spaces wrong because I'm not looking at what im typing
^^^ very sorry didn't mean to post - clicked on the wrong button
Question Author
Nowt to cringe about Sachs or owt of which to be ashamed or guilty, especially of being a mad woman...or whatever/whoever you are!...and what does :o( mean?
Woodelf - not an ideal answer, but the best way I can think of would be to use a 2 column table. Column one would be who's talking, col. 2 the text. Depends how big it's going to be, tables can be a bit unwieldy. Another would be to use Excel, wrap text in 2nd column, but I think you're restricted to 256 characters per box [I may be wrong].
lol biblebub! x
wood, just my impression of cringe! lol! I hope you get an answer to your question anyway! x
or maybe try script writing + freeware in your search engine. That isn't supposed to be sarky - mind you it does sound it!
Perhaps I should explain that I've just added another Firefox add-on that checks spelling and various types of grammar faux-pas in text boxes, and it displays a tick button immediately above the Submit Answer button that AB uses. So I was typing something random-ish to test it.

That's okay Kia, you're not being sarky, but it's too damn complicated for me. I was thinking more of if I typed Paul: and then hit a key after that : then whatever came after would stay within that er um *parameter* until I hit the enter/return key...there must be summat simple for a simple guy like me lol...anyway, it's only a bit of *homework* for our local writing group and the text doesn't have to be that long...I just want it to look right! Keep smiling Sachs, I'd cringe just looking at a steam mop, never mind using one!...smile xx
woodelf - email me at [email protected] and I'll send you an attachment of what I meant.
Question Author
OK Kia, will do, Many Thanks!
on it's way woodelf, hope it makes sense
Question Author
Received with Thanks Kia...gonna take me some time to figure it out as I'm blind and use a screen reader, I'll have to get some sighted help as to how to input the text and jump from column to column, but Thanks for the starting point!
get someone to turn narrator on, it may help.
Woodelf, I don't know which software you're using, but what you're looking for is the "hanging indent" option. This allows you to create an indented paragraph for the purpose you describe.
The simplest solution would be as Kia suggests, a two column table. There are specific packages for things like you want but I doubt if any of them are free. No harm in looking though.
Sorry woodelf, would never have known. Open up the ease of access centre [press the windows circle, type "ease" in the search line, there maybe something in there that will help you. Apologies if you have already done all that.
