Computing Windowas 7 / Media center
5 Answers
I have recently purchased the new Windows 7 programme to replace Windows XP .and this package Included Media Center I now find that when I try and run Media Center I get the following message:-
Files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. Restart Windows Media Center or restart the computer
I do this but it as no effect, I'm not sure what is causing this problem but I think it may be an incorrect driver. As a comparative novice where computing is concerned I have no idea where to start to correct this problem. Is there anyone ouy there on the AnswerBank who could help please.

If there IS then download and install it.
If there is NOT then you may be lumbered.
This is one of the problem of trying to install Windows 7 on an older computer, the hardware may not have drivers for Windows 7.

Well the answer is a lot easier than all that ...
You just need the correct codec for that file.
FFDShow is probably the best to start with as it supports a lot of formats. Install this from one of the links. Try the MMX version first and a version with latest date. You may need other codecs according to the file format. Try first and post back.
