My grand-daughter has a homeowrk assignment of writing a newspaper story. All done, but I need to know how to get the text to flow from one column to the other. I'm sure it must be possible.

If you're in Word then under page layout there is an option for Columns, Depends which version of Word you are on, as to exactly where you'll find it.

I've got two columns. Trouble is getting the text to flow into the second.
Click in the text where you want the column to end, and select Insert -> Break -> Column Break.
Goofy - don't know if you've solved the problem yet, but sometimes it's easier to get the whole article written out, then do all then enhancing [spelling, punctuation, layout etc] afterwards.
My daughter often had similar problems, it's so easy to get bogged down in which font, size & style. One thing I always found useful was showing the printing marks [paragraphs, tabs, soft returns etc,] usually displayed by clicking on the ¶ button on your toolbar - or in word options if you have word 2007. Hope that helps [and makes sense!]

I foundout that I (she!) could use Publisher as the school just wants the hard copy, so did it in that instead!
