Why can't my PC detect my camcorder?
4 Answers
I have a JVC GR-D260 and I bought a firewire hoping it would improve the quality of my capturing from my old analogue camcorder, but none of the four video editing programs I have can detect it. I have run a diagnostic and the computer says the IEEE 1394 firewire card is working perfectly, the camcorder is working, the lead is plugged in to both... What am I doing wrong?
Any suggestions? Are there drivers I need or something?
Thanks, Phil

The 270/290 DV Cam does take a DVD cable (which is 1394, ilink or firewire) It's in manual, under editing page 44. I assume you are sure you have this connection? Vista has a few problems with video capture, XP should be no problem.
Try MovieMaker .. import ...etc
Switch camera on, select a vid and pause it. Plug into firewire connector.
