Usually can be done by buying a cable and special software for about a tenner. You can also probably get it done down at your local market for the same price or even better would be to buy a code for about a fiver off a mobile website. Go to google.co.uk and type in "Sim Unlock Code" and see what that gives ya.

If it`s an O2 contract phone it`s probably not locked anyway.
