Hoping someone can help me. Logged on to my laptop the other day & noticed for some reason there is no sound. Have checked through control panel in sounds & audio devices but it will not let me do anything within device volume as it is not shaded it also says no audio device. help
control panel > system click on the hardware tab and then device manager. look under sound and video devices, does anything have a red cross or yellow exclamation mark?
Tried restore but says no changes have been made. Heave a yellow exclaimation mark at Realtec AC97 audio for VIA, tried uninstalling & re-installing but still getting same mark ?
A system restore was heavy handed for a sound card problem anyhow, and the chances are that whatever caused the problem would have happened again, far better to fix the problem than ignore it.
you need to download and reinstall the sound card drivers, they will be available from the manufacturers website. if you can't find them post the make model and what version of windows (something you should really always post with the original question when asking about computers)
