What programme could be running
9 Answers
Every time I go to shut down my computer it says saying waiting for background programme to stop and I have to tell it to stop. How do I find out what this programme could be.I am running windows 7,with just the microsoft security,no other anti virus or anything,I even took off malbytes anti malware programme cos i thought this may be the problem, but it is not.
Please help,it keeps saying that files may not be saved correctly and obviously don't want that to happen.
Much Thanks to anyone who can help

Click start > control panel > administrative tools > event viewer
it will be easier if you do a restart so you get the problem and then check the logs straight away so any problems will be near the top, look for entries with a red or yellow icon.
it will probably be in the windows > system logs, but check them all if nothing there.

Aya ........... until someone sensible, like Chuck, comes along ........... try
CTRL-ALT-DEL just before you shut down. This should bring up the Task Manager. It might tell you what's running.
If not, hit "START" .......... type in, and click on, .......... MSCONFIG
Click the STARTUP tab to see all the programs running in the background.
