It's usually an icon displayed on your desktop. If it has been removed or renamed, you can still get at it by clicking one the start button, it's one of the options near the top right (assuming you are using windows xp)
It depends if your PC is running Windows, and which version of Windows.

I think it was called "My Computer" in XP. but in Vista they got rid of the "My" in front of things so it became just "Computer".

If you open your main "Windows" menu (bottom left) then there should be "Computer" or "My Computer" on there.

That was quick.I have Vista and there is no icon on the desktop or your option. Thanks!!!
Note that "My Computer" or "Computer" is one of those items that can be "hidden" if the default options have been changed on your Windows computer.

For example if you RIGHT click on the icon on the bottom left, then select Properties you can set the properties for the Start menu.

If you press "customize" you can decide if My Computer or Computer is to be displayed or not.

>It's usually an icon displayed on your desktop

This depends on your Windows settings. In Vista if I select the "Classic start menu" I DO get "Computer" on my desktop, if I select the default "Start menu" I DONT get "Computer" on my desktop.
"Note that "My Computer" or "Computer" is one of those items that can be "hidden" if the default options have been changed on your Windows computer."

Actually the default setting is for the icon not to be displayed.

Just click on the start button then right click on the word computer and select "show on desktop"
>Actually the default setting is for the icon not to be displayed.

Chuck, I actually meant the "Computer" entry on the start menu, not the "Computer" icon on the desktop.

On my Vista Home Premium the default (for the "normal" start menu) is for "Computer" to be displayed on the menu.

But if I go into properties I can select to have "Computer" NOT displayed on the menu.

Maybe this user has had the option set to "remove" Computer from the menu (or maybe they are running the "classic" Start menu which does not have "computer" on it - but has an icon on the desktop.
Apologies VHG, I misunderstood what you meant.

Thank you all ...VHG I had been reading a forum that required that I opened up "My computer" which is as you say on XP,not realising on my Vista it's just "computer"
