Problemsing email account on ipod and Windows mail

My hubby isn't getting his email through Windows Mail after he has read them on his ipod. This was not a problem until recently. The messages are still on the server as his ipod mail program is set to not delete the messages from the server and they are in his webmail inbox. He's using Vista, and his email account is ntlworld (now Virgin Media.)

Has anyone any suggestion as to how he can get things back to how they were (see messages on his ipod but still have them dowload to Windows Mail when he next uses it)?

Also, is there any way he can send the messages from his webmail (the ones Windows Mail hasn't received) into Windows Mail manually?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Virgin switched to using googlemail recently and this has caused problems when accessing via pop3, there is a bodge on the virgin website which allows you to download to multiple computers. Follow the instructions on their website I can't give a link as they seem to disguise the URL but if you search for 'recent' you should find it. I don't know if he's had the same other problem as me in that whenever I sent a mail via Outlook under the new system I would get a copy of it sent to me instead of it going to my sent items.
If they suppport IMAP then use that instead of pop3, it's far far more suitable for using on multiple devices.
Yes, meant to put that in, they do support IMAP, a bit more setting up to do from his current position but as Chuck says, much more suitable for multiple devices.

Thanks both, I'll see what I can do. I'll have to look up IMAP as I'm not familiar with it. I'll have a play with it.
