Hi AOG.....

Looking at the back of the TV you have you have analogue line outputs (the same as old separate hi-fi systems used to use) which would enable you to plug the TV into any stereo amplifier or mini hi-fi system that has an axillary or line input and you also have a digital optical output for audio which would let you plug the TV into any surround sound system that has a matching digital optical input (otherwise known as SPDIF).

So you are pretty well covered for audio outputs on the TV, it is worth keeping in mind that these outputs will be at a fixed volume level meaning that you would need to use the remote controller for whatever sound system you pluged the TV into to adjust the volume.

Just noticed, there is a coaxial digital out as well. So you are full covered for all options to connect better audio equipment.

if you want suggestions then give people a budget and sure you'll get a few.

How do I find out what the SPDIF is on the TV, so that I can ask for the same if I purchase a surround sound system?

No chance of blowing anything up is there?

Only years ago, I did not have any sound system in an old car of mine, so I connected up a portable tape deck up to an old TV speaker, sitting on the back window shelf, yes you've guessed it, it kna**ered the player.
