Downloading photos.
4 Answers
When I download my photos off the camera's memory card to my computer it hides them away in two folders.
When I click on the first, (a folder icon appears labelled DCIM), when I click on this up opens another folder labelled 100SSCAM, when I click on this all the icons of the various photos appear.
Can anyone please tell me why these two seemly unnecessary folders, must first appear?

the top level will always be called "DCIM" which tells your computer (and any other device that supports it) to expect to find digital camera pictures in that folder,
the next folder (100SSCAM in your case) relates to the make of the camera, if you plugged the card into a different camera that would create a folder with a different name, this stops different cameras overwriting each others files if the cards are used in more than one camera.
