Not sure where to put this so here goes....

Why is the actual pilot often in the backseat in the small fast aircrafts. There must be a valid reason as even in the warplanes the seating arrangement is the same.

I am looking for a real valid reason, not 'because that's where the joystick is'.

Sometimes it is to do with the trim (balance) of the aircraft, other times it is so you can get a greater feel of the plane u r flying being more central in the airframe. On some aircraft the navigator / weapons controller sits at front due to better vision of below plus to accommodate the electronics equipment n wiring.
