Having converted to an Apple Mac, I can no longer use my digital camera (software incompatible) or use my Chambers dictionary (software incompatible). Is there a means of getting a Mac to accept PC software?

You can't modify the software but, if you've got a suitable Windows installation disk (and don't mind paying for some decent 'emulator' software) you can install Windows onto your Mac:

However most people don't need the software that comes with their digital cameras anyway. Simply using a cheap card reader will allow you to transfer your images to your Mac. (Hopefully you were doing that anyway with a PC. Downloading images by connecting the camera to a USB port, and using dedicated software, is slow and unnecessary).

If your Mac is running OS X you can use GIMP (which is a free open source program akin to Photoshop) to edit your images:

or, for a simpler (but still highly-praised) image manipulation program, use Google's Picasa:

There are so many free online dictionaries available that you don't really need dictionary software. I like this one:

we have got a Canon camera and a Leica. both of them will behave as ehd's when you connect them to the computer via USB. No need for a card reader.
