I have an email attachment that I cannot open.

When I try to download or open the file, I get the following message:

"Windows Media Player encountered a problem with the skin file. The skin file might not be valid."

It's a really important email and I really need to open that attachment. Please help. x x

Strange that someone should send you a windows media skin file. Are you sure you want this? It's a file that just changes the look and feel of windows media player. Please tell us what email function you are using. Is there a "save as"? It sounds as though you are trying to open it within the email process.

It's a work-related email with an attachment. I can't open or download the attachment.
Did the sender say there was an attachment on the Email? and what are you expecting it to be?

windows media player skin files would normally be a .WMZ file and I can't think of anything else that uses that.
Question Author
Yes, Chuck, it is a .wmz file.

You're looking mighty fine in your latest pic, btw. x
Thanks, I think it's a good look :)

Anyhow, I'd email the sender back and ask them about the file and explain you can't open it, I've had a quick look round and can't see that WMZ files are used for anything mainstream other than media player skins.

You're talking a foreign language to me, chuck. :-(

It's come from a business contact in the public sector. Any ideas how I can open the attachment?
Ignore the techie part of my answer then :)

but the important part was, your best bet is to reply to the email and ask the sender what the attachment is and what they are expecting you to open it with.

Okay... will do. Thanks.
