I have foolishly installed linux over my Windows 2000, and being the genius that I am, have discovered that I have lost my windows recovery/installation disk, is there any legal way I can get back my windows 2000 as my computer is out of warranty. Also will a windows XP uprgrade comfortably fit over an old version of Windows NT? Thanks in advance for any help.
If you don't have a windows 2000 CD key, then probably no. I'd recommend XP anyway - it's a much more stable system. As for installing it over an old NT installation, I'm not sure why you'd want to, but they can use the same file system depending on how you installed NT in the first place, so I don't see why not.
