Is there a way of taking away the little shortcut sign on shortcuts on the desktop ( the little arrow) becuase i had software that changed hidden windows settings and i want ot do it with windows xp. Anyone know how to do it.

I think the Tweak UI utility that comes with PowerToys will allow you to do this.
