Sorry should have said enter your 25 digit product key.
It might help if you mentioned what program?

I'll take a guess that it's the trial version of Microsoft office and it's asking for a code because the trial period has expired.

If this is the case, you'll need to buy office to get the code.
... or uninstall it, and re-install a free version or alternative.
It sounds like you've not typed in your 25 digit Windows 7 product key. This can be found in the Windows 7 pack you got with you're laptop - it's usually on the inside cover and you might have to scratch it off. typing this in will mean you're computer is running 'genuine' Windows which mean you have actually bought the copy of Windows and you've not got a pirate copy off someone.

Genuine Windows allows you to download Microsoft products such as Windows Updates (very important to keep your computer secure) and Microsoft Security Essentials (a great free anti-virus and anti-spyware program if you don't already have one such as Norton or McAfee).

Thought I had found it,small coloured lable attached to underside of laptop. stating "product key" followed by 25 letters and numbers each 5 spaced with a dash. Kept getting message this is not your product key.Even put the wifes glasses on thinking I had entered wrong digit/letter.No luck
