th aerial

hi all, had virgin installed all round the home for the last 2 years but have had it taken out.
now i need to get a tv aerial in the upstairs bedrooms.
main question is.....
if i chop the ends off the virgin coax cable can i use it as an aerial coax if i change the connectors at the tv end and route opposite end into a splitter.
this would save me a lot of time re-routing new cable if it can be used.
