Is it still possible to receive TV signal in the Middlesbrough area from the Pontop Pike transmitter? What type of aerial would be required?

Middlesborough is served by the Bilsdale transmitter:

It MIGHT be possible to get reception from Pontop Pike in the Middlesborough area but it would probably require an aerial like this one

which would need to be mounted in a high position.
However I can't think of any valid reason for doing so.

Postcode is important for me to calculate the perceived signal and strength, and hence the antenna and alignment you would need.
I have picked Marton TS7 8AT as a base.
Pontop Pike Channel Numbers: 48 55 59 62 65 53
CD Group Antenna
Grid Ref: NZ148526
32 miles 315degrees bearing compass alignment.
Amplified extra hi-gain antenna needed!
Bilsdale West Moor 34 21 31 24 27 42
K Group Antenna
Grid Ref: SE553962
13 miles 170degrees compass alignment
Extra hi-gain antenna required
If you can get on Bilsdale, do it. If not, you would need something like a Triax Unix 52 CD/W antenna with a good quality Triax or Labgear Mast top amp. Than you WILL get everything.
If you are more than 5 miles from Marton post your postcode and I'll run it again and post any amendments.

Many thanks for your answers and suggestions. I was under the impression that Pontop was transmitting HD signals. I now learn that the HD transmissions are for the Newcastle area, so it would appear that 2012 will be the big year for Teeside, unless further developments occur. I am less than 2 miles from Marton, Al and receive excellent results from Bilsdale. Thanks again.
