Am just looking for a basic good 40" plasma tv - what will I look for - thanks - some of the reviews I looked at said the sound was "thin" - now I want a brilliant sound because I am very deaf.
Yes, definitely look for LCD rather than plasma at that size, even if it cost a little more you'll more than save it in electricity in a year (I worked out a little while ago that to run a 50inch plasma would cost about £150 a year more in electricity over a LCD)
All flat screen TV's have "thin" sound due to the fact there physically isn't room inside them for decent speakers. look at getting an external set of speakers to go with it.
I also agree that LCD would be a better option and that Richer Sounds is a brilliant place to buy it - you should be able to see/hear your chosen model and they will recommend/supply external speakers should you require them.
crikey Chuck, thats a silly amount of leccy isnt it!
Maybe i had better keep eye on LCDs rather than big plasma for new TV. Still looking at 3D, even if it goes nowehere at least the TV will still work :)
jumped the gun a bit too quick - rang Richer Sounds and asked did they do televisions - but unfortunately they dont have a good range if any at all. They have a 42" Phillips which he said gave a brilliant sound. I will go down and have a look some time but I think 42" will be too big in my small lounge - also I always thought Phillips was a cheap make - it was years ago.
I have a 32" Philips and sound is excellent for an LCD. Most people use LCD & Plasmas with an external 'surround sound' system as I do, but this TV is very good for general viewing with its own internal speakers. Not sure if it's still available even though I bought it recently. See it here http://uk.shopping.co...nd-Pixel-Plus-HD/info
