I am writing an essay on Word and need to insert some photos. The trouble is, there are 20 of them and even though I re-size them to be small, they are clearly messing up my computer as the document then says it cannot display all the data.
How can I print out a sheet of paper with 20 small-ish photos on, and add a caption to each one, in the correct order? Word can't handle it. What else can I use?

Insert & resize your photo, space bar, insert next photo etc. Press return for next line & type data, using space bar for positioning under each photo. OR, Open photos in Paint & add type data, save then add saved photo+data to Word.

Change Margin (under File) settings to fit all.
Are you using word to resize them?

If you are then resize them in any art program first and then insert the smaller copy into the document.

Thanks- but I did try that. I put all the pictures into the document and then they wouldn't show up- insufficient disk space, apparently! They wouldn't print either.
Question Author
Thanks- what is the easiest way to resize a photo? ie- what should I click on?
Is your printer set up correctly to Word, check ctrl P
run cursor over to arrows on photo edge
In Word you can click the photo and resize it by dragging the corners.
The problem with resizing them in word is word keeps them stored as the full size image and just displays a small version of it, with 20 images, especially if they are high resolution digital pictures the document is going to end up huge, which a low spec (old) computer will struggle with.

Though I'm now more concerned with the "insufficient disk space" error.

Scarlett, firstly which version of windows is it? and how much hard drive space do you have free? (open my computer and the right click on the C drive and select properties)

Hi- It seems to be working better now that I've resized the photos. I am printing pages as I go along. I think its to do with how much it can cope with presenting at one time. The pics were VERY big to start with and I've reduced them to 25%.

232GB used 38 GB remaining. Is that really bad?!
Your storage is getting close to limit. When did you last do a back-up, have a good clear out and defrag the drive.
If you need to have all of the 232GB available all the time you should investigate getting another hard drive.
Question Author
Hi Scotman. I need to do a defrag. I wonder how much this will help, as I have a lot of music and picture files. I do have 2 other hard drives but I use them to edit my films.
Please can you tell me what I need to do to do a back up?
Search for large files (larger than say 500000k (approx 500mb). Cut/paste them to external (or spare internal if you have one) hard drive in My Computer.
Question Author
Okay- how can I do a search for large files?
