Setting a downloaded tune as a ring tone on Apple IPhone 4
3 Answers
Having a bit of bother here, have imported several original CDs into I Tunes playlist and then completed sync with new IPhone - no problems here, music is on IPod application. Problem is I want to be able to add track (samples) to preloaded ring tones and set for various callers etc.
Been on internet, followed some instructions which entailed making a 30 sec duplicate, changing file extension etc and then putting in Ringtone folder on I Tunes. Further sync but cant find anything on IPhone anywhere - what am I doing wrong, is there an easy way to do this.
Not trying anything illegal here, these are original CD tracks.
Thanks in anticipation, if anyone has an answer please list the steps I need take.

Remove the ringtones into an empty desktop folder, open iTunes, open preferences, advanced, make sure the two boxes (Keep media folders organised and Copy files to Media folder) are ticked, click OK and close window. Click the itunes File menu the Add to Library, navigate to the folder you put the ringtones in, select all the ringtones and click Choose. iTunes should now load these automatically to the ringtone section and you should be able to sync them to your iphone. Check your iphone sync is set to sync either all or chosen ringtones
Sync your Iphone and check that your sync settings are set to ringtones/all and not selected ones. Also in iTunes check that your ringtones in your library ringtones section all have ticks next to the track. If the tick is set to off they will not be included for play or synching until the tick is set
