<rolls eyes in disbelief>
I wish I knew who was winding who up here.
I'm doing my best, Mrs. C. :-)
And yes I do realise that a very small percentage of people will be able to get speeds greater than a speedtest site can handle.

I've tried the bbmax speedtest from a 1Gb/s connection and they have never been able to give a result above 150Mb/s

But we are generally talking to members of the public on here who will not have that sort of speed availble so it's not going to be relevant to them.
Nobody makes a monkey out of Chuck.

Errr ... hang on a minute .... Chuck's avatar's a monkey innit? I take that back then. :o)
Oops. I do apologise. Just realised this post is in Technology and not Chatterbank.

Sorry peeps. x

Judging by his contributions to this thread, nobody needs to...

I don't think anyone is trying to wind any one up.

I maintain that a usable internet connection is only going to be as fast as the slowest part of the route. testing between you and your ISP will give you a good indication of your bearer speed but if you are then being throttled at the perimeter of their network or there is a bottleneck further upstream from your ISPs network then that is going to be the speed you see in everyday use. (though I would like to think if there was a significant bottleneck anywhere it would only be a temporary thing)

Anyhow, I'm certainly not trying to start an argument with mark, but differences of opinion are healthy :)
What the bloody hell are you doing up so late on your birthday? Celebrating tonight maybe. You are allowed a night off you know. xx

Chuck, I thought Mark was trying to wind you up when he said 'You really fell for it, didn't you!' .... and then he rolled on the floor, laughing his ar$e off.

I obviously got the wrong end of the stick. :o)
That's what I thought too, Mrs C.
I'm glad you're as daft as me, society. :o)
