I keep broadband running all the time the computer is switched on - most of the day. It is ADSL. If for some reason I disconnect but leave the computer on, there is no problem re-connecting. The only fail message I get is in the connection box - nothing else comes onto the screen to say there is a problem. Password etc. are all acceptable. It is only when I initially start up the computer i.e. first thing in the morning, and then the connection always fails. A re-start is the only solution I have found. When WIZARD and SMUDGE suggest re-installing, do they mean that I uninstall the whole thing and begin again with the Wanadoo Disc?
There are referring to the software on the PC which runs the modem (box between the PC and the phone line).
I am assuming Wanadoo sent you the pack and you installed it l so you're happy running through the installation disc again ? The first part should take you installing the modem drivers but you shouldn't have to reinstall all the Wanadoo software again.
Try that and then as has been suggested, brave Wanadoo Tech Support to have the modem replaced and line checked.
I think this is a 'feature' of ADSL with some systems. I had the same with BT ADSL years ago. I just used to boot up with the modem/router disconnected then plug it in - not convenient though. Ended up buying a better modem and problem solved.
