which is the better printer - lexmark 640 or HP deskjet 690c?

generally which would you say was the best one...
i have both of these but I intend to give one away...to me they seem much of a muchness really...but obviously id like to keep the better one

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I have always gone for the Lexmark because I like the fact it talks to you ("Printer started"... little things lol) Having said that I have just bought a HP photosmart printer as needed a wireless one and it is brilliant! Doesn't talk tho..... sorry doesn't answer your question, I guess the best out of the 2 is to work out which has the cheapest cartridges and how long they last and which one prints the best (quality, quantity etc.)
well i havent used one in years and the other is new (to me anyway)
so i dont know if they are same...what i mean is they both appear similar at face value but i dont know the ins and outs of what 'extras' or benefits each has over the other.
i have another better one but i am keeping a smaller one for a spare and to take to work if need be

I agree with Wak.
If you have a printer that needs another of those huge £30 cartridges every time you run out of one colour then get rid of that. I've got an Epson which has single colour cartrides and each one is less than £2 each (on-line). I just snap a new one in when a colour gets low. It's much more convenient and cheaper than my old HP970 which took the big cartridges.
