gmail is a email service provided by google. As it's still in it's Beta stage (testing) it is not generally avalible to the public.

If you hold an account you could invite 3 friends, this has increasd to 50 now so it won't be long before it is fully 'opened'

i've invited about 20 people & STILL have 50 invites, so it is more or less open to everyone

Gmail is so so good. You get 1000 MB of free storage, so no need to delete. It roups messages together in coversations so youw inbox makes more sense, and you can search all your mail for a keyword, and since you never delete you can find everything.
And best of all it is as quick as google, so no waiting for inbox to appear...

Thanks all, might try it. I'm a bit wary of some site trawling through my inbox, to build a profile of me, just so they can spew directed ads at me.

It doesnt really work like that. It doesnt build a profile, it just looks at keywords on the page and finds possible sites that match. Not like spyware or anything, and totally safe.
