It seems that whenever there is a meeting or important lecture that we have to be at our lecturers believe that by putting a note up on the uni wall the morning of the important meeting will suffice for 90 students. After badgering them about it they have now taken to emailling important notices such as this - but it is still a problem - I amtrying to find some way of out lecturers being able to text message a short notice to our phones...preferably for free...preferably online. I know of free text sites but does anyone know a site that will let you register and keep a 'phonebook' so that everyone can be informed alot easier? is this possible?

I use www.o2.co.uk . It is free up to a point, ie limited but it does do what you want for a small fee.
