I don't have a landline and have just checked with BT (with a view to changing from Virgin) and the maximum speed quoted for my address is 3.0 This is far too slow.
Am I right in thinking that any other non-cable provider will be unable to provide a faster speed?

If your local telephone exchange has LLU equipment installed you might get faster speeds than from BT.

Note: IF.
check your exchange here and see if you have cable or any LLU providers.

Oh.... OK, you're with virgin, guess you do have cable then:)

If I was to move back into a cabled area I would go back to cable BB in an instant.

There are LLU providers at my exchange. I've never of that.
You're lucky you don't live near me, my BB speed is 0.5. iplayer etc is pretty much out of the question.
Mine comes up as NBDEC what does that mean?
It also has OLO above in a box.
Invictas, if you click on your exchange name which is under lined, it will take you to another page with more in-depth and also easier to understand information.
