Computer playing up

I'm having a problem running Scandisk - it keeps restarting, with the message 'Drive's contents changed - restarting'. I presume there is a program running in the background that is causing the problem. Any ideas how to go about fixing it? Or, could someone tell me a good site to get advice on computer related problems??

First, disable the screensaver, if you have one running. Second, hold down CTRL, ALT and DELETE keys to bring up the task manager and end every task except explorer. Visit www.themutual.net and visit the Internet and computing forum if you need further help.

If all else fails, run scandisk in DOS mode.
