Dell laptop backup

I have a Dell laptop that I need to restore to original settings.I don't want to lose my i- tunes library though so can anyone tell me how to do a back up or can I transfer it to my external hard drive???would be grateful for any advice.Thank you

Hi, look thru your C drive until you find your itunes folder - copy and paste everything across to your external hard drive. This would also apply to any important photos/documents. When you restore your dell, you will need to download and reinstall itunes application, and then copy your files back across to the C drive from your external drive. You should always keep a backup copy of any important files anyway, as hard drives can and do fail - sometimes without warning!!
