Broken screen on Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop

The screen has been cracked and no longer works. The cost of a replacement varies depending on whether it is LED or LCD - which Is better?

Sometimes they have a sticker on the palmrest stating it's an LED screen if that's what it was, but if there isn't one then removing the screen and checking the part number is the only way to be sure you get the right one.

You could try going to dells site and entering the service tag, that might tell you which screen it was supplied with.

Otherwise it's a case of taking it apart, it's not a hard job, but it's a little fiddly and it's easy to break the plastics if you don't know what you are doing.

I wouldn't go to Dell in the first place, they will charge a fortune for a replacement screen and I doubt they'd supply the part only to a member of the general public.
There are far cheaper places to get a replacement screen from (and possibly best to get it fitted for you if you are not confident doing it yourself)
