Does anyone else think that it would be quite easy for companies such as norton to put the viruses out there themselves and thus profit from it?

Well, I don't know if it's still the case, but NAV used to list all these viruses with a note to the effect that they were not yet "in the wild". In other words the only place they existed was in AV labs.

if paying for updates is your problem there r many free AV programs i recoment persoanl antivirus it is very good
