All I want it for is the odd on line account sorting out,on line shopping and watching catch up tv.I suppose the kids will want to borrow it for on line homework(mmmm how green am I ??)can anyone recommend a cheap but reliable lap/net thingy.
Oh yeah,it has to be windows 7 but really
easy to set up and use.I still don't fully understand the difference between the two,but I think a net book it what I want.
Please advise an stressed out Aya!

I have just bought an Acer Aspire 5553. 15.6 inch screen, nice layout - big enough keys and so on. i got it for under £400 and am pleased with the versatility of the wifi too, weighs only 2.6 kilos. i have no idea what the techies would say about it, mind you. It has more than met my requirements of it. It set itself up for me, too ☺
I like the sound of the HDMI,but the price is a bit much.....things are a bit yukky at the moment and I was hoping to spend under £200.I know I do ask A lot,but I have to make sure I get it right.
Thanks for your answer though,I will just have to persuade OH that you get what you pay for.
Thanks again

That is fair enough Aya, I saw this one advertised on QVC and as i had the option to return it after 30 days (without any fault on it) i went for it. It would cost me a lot to get my old desktop up to scratch and i was pleased the netbook cost me less than I thought. Hope things are progressing for you all, and that you are managing to get some proper sleep and not forgetting to eat ♥
Hi aya,I am no expert, but I found this link on Google for you to look at.Ron. http://www.portableun...eap_Laptops_Under_200
As well as Asda, Tesco have good offers now and again. I recently bought a Dell for £319 and three days later the price had gone up to £399.
Do your research about Processor type and speed and HDD and RAM sizes when shopping and make sure you're comparing very similar specifications from different makers before deciding which is best value for money.
Avoid the computer superstores if you can, though good for looking at a large variety of machines and then buying at the best price you can get elsewhere.
Remember netbooks do not have CD/DVD drives and are best left for users who know how to install additional programmes without those drives and do not want to play or rip music and play Video,or who also have a second PC for home use.
