Is there a text app that lets you use a numeric keypad to text (like the old school nokia T9 version) like you used to in the old days??

Better keyboard has a T9 option. either get it from the android market place, or click the link below and point your phones bar code scanner at the QR code.

Go to settings. Language and Keyboard. Touch input. Then keyboard type. Phone keypad.
To add another option for text input (although it isn't T9) you could always try 8pen. It looks complicated but in the time I used it it became clear that it could be very useful for entering text one handed (i.e. in the old fashioned way)
Thick keyboard is my favourite one, it hasn't got T9 though but I do like the way it enlarges all the possible keys that will be next in any word you're typing.
Do you use your left hand or your right hand then, Ed, says me laughing at the suggestive comment!
