hp mini laptop frozen page ?

Hi can anyone help. i tried to down load a free AVG today ( which i have done befor ) and when the download box appeared I pressed run programme. it has now froze on that box. It will not let me close the computer down or load the internet in the normal way ( I have to open a new tab to access internet ) and it just pinges when I try to close it any ideas.

Have you tried Ctrl + Alt + Delete - all pressed at the same time. You may need to repeat this action but once is usually enough. This will activate the Task Manager which will allow you to close down any open programmes. Any frozen programmes will be labelled "program not responding".

Sorry that didn't work. Assuming all else has failed, as a last resort try holding down the power button and it will force a switch off which will take up to half a minute to complete. When you turn the machine back on you will have a screen telling you that laptop was shut down forcibly you will have to choose one of the options shown to get back onto the internet. Hope you get some success with this.

Using Alt+Tab might be an option first in case there is a hidden window waiting for a response.
