These type of malware / spyware attacks often change the Windows network settings (to stop you being able to go on the internet to "fix" it.).
My daughter had a serious attack a year or so back and it was so bad (and had changed so many of the Windows settings) that I finished up doing a full Windows reinstall.
You may find your "hosts" file has been changed, and that will affect your ability to get to the network. The hosts file can be updated to "point" you to the sites THEY want you to go to.
See if you can find your "hosts" file (no extension) and see what is listed in there.
