I am looking to go to Vegas in November for 7 nights and want to stay on the Strip only, I have not been for 3 years and notice now nearly all the hotels are charging on arrival a hotel tax/fee which includes used of pool, spa, gym , wifi and some of the charge 28 dollars per room per day, is there any way round this we do not want to use any of these facilities we just basically want to sleep there but apparently you have to pay up. Travel agents are not telling you this, and if you ask they say you can sort it out with the hotel on arrival, but it will have to come out of my spending money and I begrudge it.
Is there any way round this ?

not until Nov minty, I wanted to go in April but not summer months but my pal Mags said we should wait till then so we save up a bit more, we must book soon or all the seats on the direct flights will be booked up. I once went and changed planes never again !
Haven't been to Vegas but can't you call the hotel you're staying at and ask their customer service, just to clear things out? As far as I know, those necessities comes with the package and you don't have to pay for every amenities you don't really use. I saw a link about resorts fees online last year but there are still others who doesn't charge so might as well choose the hotel who doesn't charge extra fees.

I'd never heard of this shark-like practice of gouging customers for stuff that any decent hotel would include in the room price - quite astonishing.

Makes Ryanair look like a charitable organisation ...

I have done my homework and as far as I know the only two hotels on the strip that don't charge resort tax are The Monte Carlo and the Luxor, so we booked the Monte Carlo.
You pay for me to come with you and I'll pay the excesses for you!
