Chicago & Montana

I have been reading alot about ernest hemingway of late and i was thinking about going to visit the home where he was born in chicago( oak park ) and the last house where he lived in ( Ketchum ) montana. Has anyone been to either of these places and if so can you give me an idea of what to expect when i arrive there..?

Ketchum is in Idaho (one State further west), but regardless, I've been there several times. It's just down the road from Sun Valley, so that famous ski area and resort tend to overshadow the Hemingway mystique. His house (built of solid concrete) is still there as is gravesite (of course) in the Ketchum Community Cemetery. There are numerous streets, a school and other landmarks named after the famous writer who moved ther in 1959. Ketchum is a small town in a deep, beautiful valley, although it tends to be overrun with tourists in the summer and skiers in the winter. Plenty of hotels, etc., in and around the entire valley and especially,Sun Valley...

clanad i dont drive is public transport good..?, whats the main airport i would fly into...? i wa thinking about arriving in ketchum from chicago on the 21st of july ( the great mans birthday )

Airlne service is through Salt Lake City, Utah to Hailey, Idaho, which serves the Sun Valley/Ketchum area. The Hailey airport is centrally located and is nor more than perhaps 5 to 7 miles from Ketchum and Sun Valley. The only airline that serves the area is Sky West Airlines, which is associated with a major carrier, Delta Airlines... Sky West is a very dependable carrier flying 50 to 70 passenger CRJ Jet aircraft. There's lots of surface tranportation to choose from, once you're there. Check here:

I've just got back from Havana - Cuba and there are tributes to Hemmingway all over the place, the bars he drank in, hotels he stayed in, tables he wrote his masterpeices on. If you get a chance I would highly recommened you visit Havana, it's an amazing experience.
