Like most major cities in the U.S., most residents of "Chicago" don't actually live in Chicago. Most live in any of the numerous suburbs, some even living in Wisconsin, just to the north. Chicago, as it applies to the central city is one of the world's most exciting cities as far as fine arts, restaurants and entertainment. While many do live in the city, the cost is exorbitant. A friend transferred there a while back and paid over $300,000 U.S. for a 900 square foot condo. That same money will buy a 2200 square foot house 25 to 30 miles away. Of course, the traffic into and out of the city is bumper to bumper at times, but the commuter trains are excellent.... Welcome to the U.S., by the way!
