its a good idea, ask your doctor
Also ask him/her how effective each one is. He/she will very likely read from a list as to what is recommended but have no real idea of what it is all about. Regarding any malaria advice, there is an alternative to taking pickling doses: Guard against being bitten with really good repellent, insecticide, etc. See question 377604 and others.
http://www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk will give good advice.

Malaria is present in only one small part of Egypt miles from Sharm
its not nessesary clayton, if youv'e got plenty of time to go doctors and get some then do but i booked late and didn't have time, doctor said it would be fine as they are only precautionary. i went and was fine. don't listen to all horror stories about the place either, don't eat salad or drink the water and you'll have a great time
I went last october and was advised by my docotr to have hep A and typhoid around 2wks before i went!
