Eurocamp/Keycamp in Holland

Does anyone have any experience of any of these camps? - I am looking to go with hubby and 2 boys 6 & 5 in summer.

My own experience of Keycamps has always been fabulous.

In my opinion, although I've never been to Holland with them, you won't go wrong if you choose them to holiday with.

I am returning to France on a Keycamp site staying in a caravan for the 4th time. The caravans have always been exceptionally clean and comfortable. The sites I have stayed on have always been maintained to a high standard. They are quiet during the hours stated and they are pretty strict about noise which for us was important. The first time I stayed on a Keycamp site the France world cup was on and there were lots of fans from all over Europe on site but it was so quiet it was surreal

Thanks OJ - this will be a bit of a new experience for us - I would like to do France, but the drive south from Scotland puts us off - if you fly then hire a car it then becomes really expensive unless you can book very early.

Crumbs a very long way to go!

We are pretty near Dover and although we spend an hour and a half on the ferry, it takes us less than 3 hours to drive to the other side of Paris.

The fly drive deals are pretty good with Keycamps and you get free bed linen hire when you fly drive too.

Just a thought but I would recommend you go to a travel agent to book as it always comes up as dearer online for some reason. Once you've been with KC you get a loyalty discount if you choose to go again

What I meant was do you get a beetr deal by upgrading your ferry with keycamp than booking it without ferry then booking that seperately? We live in Stirling, so ideally we would want to travel from further North - there are already no berths from Rosyth or Newcastle, so we are looking at Hull (cost is about �550 for ferry)

If you choose to go by ferry, the price is included in the price so to upgrade I suspect would be cheaper to book alongside your holiday - We only ever go from Dover to Calais.
I know my best mate was looking at coming from Hull to go to France and that is included in the price. you can only go to Zebrugges though although if you're going ot Holland that would be better for you

This is all the ports you can get a ferry form with Keycamps and you can book a cabin for an extra cost. I think you'll need a cabin for a 13 hour crossing LOL

My mistake, I;ve done a preliminary booking and there is �50 discount so you must have to book your own ferry like you say
It is worth asking if they can get you a ferry booking at reduced cost but it is probably cheaper for you to stay in a hotel overnight in Dover and travel to Calais then drive on form there

PS: It's 3hrs 30 mins and 215 miles from Calais to the Wassenaar site in Holland

Thanks for all your digging for me, but it is about 10 hours from Stilring to Dover, and only 4.5 to Hull and then only about 30 mins from Rotterdam/Amsterdam. I really couldn't face all that time in the car with the boys - I know that it costs a lot more, but my older boy gets car sick, and i don't think it is fair to him to go that far. He is usually alright if we keep it within 2 hours or stick to major roads, so if the ferry doesn't leave until night time, that gives us all day to get there in shorter bursts - god I hope he grows out of it!!!! Mind you, I hope he doesn't get sick on the ferry - still at least you have a cabin to use and not plastic bags in the car!!! LOL

Oh no! that is not nice in a 10 hour car journey.
In that case then I would definitely ask your travel agent to see if they can get you a reduced price booking. I know when I went to book my holiday for this year, the agent went off to call somewhere to see if he could get cheaper Disneyland tickets. Maybe they know somewhere to buy cheaper ferry tickets too?

Actually, you could ask the question on here to see if anyone has any other ideas perhaps? I find this site so useful - I even got advice on French trains that was written in English.

I know I've said it before but if you decide to go, you really won't be disappointed with Keycamp :) :)

I'm a bit 'dog with a bone' type when it comes to finding the cheaper option. My family are always on at me and my nickname is Bargain Queen ;)
Try this site for ferry tickets. The result I got for a family of your size with an ordinary car travelling in the 2nd week of August was �408 with a 9am crossing going there and a 4pm coming home. Of course if you go a little later or earlier it may cost more or it may cost less :)

Have stayed twice at Duinrel in Holland keycamps have accommodation it is a really good place for children .We booked with duinrell direct and stayed in a bungalow .

Hi Guys thanks for all your help - we are going to go ahead and book - neither keycamp or duirnel direct have the availability for the dates we want to go, so we are going with eurocamp - I saw a recommendation from someone to book this with eurocamp.nl, which does seem cheaper, but my dutch is non existant, so I am not sure I would end up booking the right thing! LOL

Dont worry about your Dutch ,they are very good at english even children have a grasp of English

Can't help with the Dutch I'm afraid but Eurocamps are very good too - if I'm not mistaken they are a sister company of Keycamp. Caravan's much the same but different names for them
Failing getting someone to translate for you, you could painstakenly translate your self using Alta Vista - Babel Fish translater?

Hiya, I have just finished booking it - I would be too nervous of booking the wrong thing and ending up with a disaster of a holiday - If it was just me and hubby , I'd take the risk, but not with the kids. Have been very carefully measuring the car, plus rails, plus bikes to make sure that we can fit on the ferry!!! So that's it, we are going now! I have also just ordered our new EHIC cards and renewed my passport on-line. I did however, get an extra �50 off for booking on the bank holiday, so not all bad!

we went on a Keycamps family holiday last year and had a brilliant time. excellent value. we went to 3 sites in france and italy over a two week period, and loved all of them. the sites vary in the level of activities and entertainments they provide. our accommodation was basic but clean. the parks were good fun - not too tacky, but lively. I'm sure you will have a wonderful holiday!
